Many people are familiar with the more popular Seiko 6138-8020 two register 'Panda' chrono, but this variant is special for a few reasons: * (1) it was produced by Seiko's Daini factory (see emblem above sub-register), which was often associated with lower output, higher quality, and dressier pieces * (2) it is only a compact ~37.5 mm x ~42.5 mm L2L, leading to the 'Baby Panda' moniker * (3) it is a vertical clutch flyback chronograph, meaning you can reset the chronograph hand during operation without stopping it first, which at the time of production, was pretty impressive tech in a modestly sized watch like this. I love everything about the design and execution of this watch, so much awesome mechanical tech crammed into a tight package. Truly a timeless piece. It's elegant, understated, sporty, and still manages to be clean as hell, representing an excellent example of Daini’s design language at the time.
